Happy President’s Day!

The third Monday of February celebrates the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12) and George Washington (Feb. 22). Most Americans refer to this day as President's Day.

Medina Flea Market this Sunday

 

Are you looking for some new collectibles or decorations?  Be sure to check out the flea market this Sunday in the Community Center at the County Fairgrounds.  Early admissions start at 6:00 AM and be sure to arrive early because the best stuff goes quick!

When you are looking for that special collectable – check us out. With almost 200 displays, it may be here.  Glass, old tools, postcards, jewelry sports cards or furniture it just may be here.

Just ‘goosin’ around the pond

It looks like geese are arriving back with the weather starting to warm up.  Keep your eyes out!

As temperatures rose into the 50s Wednesday afternoon, a White Chinese goose spreads its wings in the sunshine near a pond off Hamilton Road in Medina Township.

2011 Medina Ice Festival Presented by KeyBank February 18-21, 2011

 

(Medina, Ohio- January 26, 2011) - More ice than ever will be flying around the Historic Medina Square during President's Day Weekend as KeyBank presents the 2011 Ice Festival, featuring the talents of Olympic Gold Medalist, Aaron Costic, and other carvers from Elegant Ice. In cooperation with Key Bank, Main Street Medina, Excalibur Auto Body, and Main Street Café, the 2011 festival will feature two ice carving competitions, on-going demonstrations, and the amazing Fire & Ice Tower. This family-friendly event, paid for by the generous sponsorships of local businesses, is free to the public. While most of the carving and demonstrations are done in the late afternoon and early evening, the sculptures will be illuminated at night. Aaron Costic, Olympic Gold Medalist in Ice Carving and owner of Elegant Ice, will place color-changing L.E.D. fixtures under each work of art.


The Ice Festival begins on Friday night, February 18th, at 5:00pm with carving demonstrations by Elegant Ice and Ice Carving Olympic Gold Medalist, Aaron Costic. Excalibur Auto Body presents the amazing "Fire & Ice" Tower at 6pm. The Festival continues on Saturday, February 19th with an Individual Ice Carving Competition from 1-4pm. On Sunday, February 20th, a Carving Competition will be held from 11am-2pm. The Medina Gazette will crown the Ice Prince and Princess at 3pm. The event concludes on Monday, February 21st, with the opportunity to view the works of art created for the competitions, and to explore, dine, shop, and discover all that the Historic District in Medina has to offer
